(Providence, RI)--The Rhode Island Republican Party and the GOP's national committee filed a notice of appeal yesterday after a federal judge allowed a voting requirement to be waived this fall. The Republicans are objecting to voters not needing to fulfill witness requirements for mail-ballot voting.Instead, the consent agreement will allow the state to ask voters to voluntarily provide alternate forms of ID like driver's license or state identification number, last four digits of their Social Security number, or phone number.A lawsuit pushing for the fall elections to feature the waived witness rule cited voters who are vulnerable to the coronavirus.
