FEMA Approves Rhode Island For New COVID-19 Unemployment Benefit

(Providence, RI)--The Federal Emergency Management Agency is approving the state of Rhode Island's application to allow for a new federal unemployment benefit for workers affected by the coronavirus pandemic.The new unemployment benefit was created through an executive order from President Trump after a six-hundred-dollar extra COVID benefit expired earlier this summer, but this new boost is only three-hundred dollars.Trump made up to 44-billion dollars available from FEMA's Disaster Relief Fund to fund this.
