Gov. Raimondo is Biden's Pick as Commerce Secretary

The New York Times is reporting President-elect Joe Biden has picked Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo to serve as Secretary of Commerce. It has been rumored recently that Raimondo was a potential candidate for a cabinet post. If she leaves, Lieutenant Governor Dan McKee would take over as governor for the remaining two-years of her term.

As of early Thursday night Raimondo had not responded to the media about the report. When rumors of a cabinet nomination first surfaced weeks ago, Raimondo denied that she was interested and stated that she had more work left to complete as Rhode Island's Governor.
