(Washington, DC) -- Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed is being named the new Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Reed ascended to the position through the Senate's adopted organizing resolution for the 117th Congress. He had been a ranking member of the Committee since 2015. The committee oversees the U.S. Department of Defense and all military services.
