Daniel McKee was sworn in as Rhode Island Governor on Tuesday night, a few hours after Gina Raimondo was confirmed as Commerce Secretary by the U.S. Senate. McKee had been a Governor-in-Waiting since December when Raimondo was nominated to the post by then President Elect Joe Biden. McKee, a businessman and former Mayor of Cumberland takes over at a tumultuous time as the state continues to deal with the COVID-19 vaccine rollout and a looming budget deficit.
