Providence Seeks Dismissal Of Moped Crash Lawsuit

(Providence, RI) -- The city of Providence is asking for the dismissal of a federal lawsuit filed in connection to a police officer-involved moped crash. The 2020 crash left the operator, Jhamal Gonsalves, with serious injuries. The officers involved were not charged criminally. The city is rejecting the claim that Police Chief Hugh Clements and Public Safety Commissioner Steven Paré acted with reckless disregard and deliberate indifference in hiring, screening and training them.
