(Providence, RI)--Rhode Island Health Director Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott said Thursday that about 40-percent of the new coronavirus cases in Rhode Island are variants.She said that fact means Rhode Islanders must redouble their efforts to fight the pandemic.However, at the same time the state is further-relaxing pandemic-related restrictions.Commerce Secretary Stefan Pryor said up to ten people can be seated at a table outdoors, while gyms and fitness centers can fully re-open shower facilities.Those changes and others take effect today.
