Former Providence Schools Chief Cites Lack Of Trust As Cause For Departure

(Providence, RI) -- The now former Providence public schools Superintendent says his departure comes from a lack of trust. Harrison Peters handed in his resignation yesterday. WJAR reports that Peters says he no longer has the community's trust to be able to effect positive change in the district. State education officials called for Peters to leave this week after an administrator he hired allegedly touched a boy's feet without the child's consent at a Warwick gym. Peters admits to the hiring oversight but insists the administrator's references checked out.
