Public Advised To Avoid A Newport Pond

Jun 15, 2021

(Undated) -- The public is cautioned to avoid contact with the water at Almy Pond in Newport. A toxic blue-green algae bloom that is harmful to people and pets has been detected. The toxins can cause dizziness, headache, fever, liver damage or nervous system damage. The state Department of Health says there should be no swimming, fishing or boating on the pond.
