(Undated) -- CNN's Christiane Amanpour says she was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She's a 1983 summa cum laude graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a journalism degree. Amanpour says she's undergone successful surgery and will now have several months of chemotherapy. One of the best-known journalists in the world, Amanpour received an honorary doctor of laws degree from URI in 1995.
