Superman Building Owner Avoids Tax Delinquency Sale

(Providence, RI) -- The owners of the tallest building in Rhode Island took action to avoid a tax sale on the property earlier this week. High Rock Westminster Street LLC, which owns the structure known as the Superman Building in downtown Providence, agreed to pay nearly half-a-million dollars in back taxes to the city. The building gets its name for resembling the Daily Planet newspaper headquarters from the superhero series. It has been vacant since 2013, when Bank of America moved out. High Rock said the non-payment was due to an internal error.
