Rhode Island Ready For Booster Shot Program

The Rhode Island Department of Health is announcing that COVID-19 vaccine boosters are available in the state after they received federal approval.

The Pfizer vaccine booster is recommended for people 65 and older, those with underlying medical conditions who are 50 to 64, and residents in long-term care settings.

In addition, those who work in the prison system and other high risk settings are encouraged to get vaccinated.

The boosters should be administered at least six months after the initial vaccinations.

Rhode Island's population is 67-percent fully-vaccinated against COVID-19.
