Rhode Island is 45th among the 50 states for home ownership according to a U.S. Census Bureau survey.
Rhode Island's rate for 2019, the most recent year of available data, was 61-point-seven percent.
The national rate was 64-point-one-percent.
The financial website 24/7 Wall Street says home ownership is impacted in large part by housing costs.
According to the survey, the most expensive place to buy a house in the Ocean State is the village of Narragansett Pier in Narragansett.
