Pandemic Takes Toll On School Scores

One more thing has fallen victim to the pandemic.

Test Scores throughout the state have shown an overall decrease of those who of proficient by five percent.

Proficiency in math and English language arts dropped this year on the Rhode Island Comprehensive Assessment System test.

It's the first time students have taken the test since the start of the pandemic.

Just 33-percent are considered proficient in English language arts, down from 38-percent in 2019.

Only 20-percent were proficient in math, a drop from 30-percent two years ago.
