Shoring Up The Newport Shoreline

An agreement is being reached to restore public shoreline access in Newport Harbor.

This is part of an initiative by the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office and Coastal Resources Management Council to clear obstructions withing existing CRMC-designated rights of way.

The city of Newport will relocate a large electrical panel currently blocking the view of the water at Lee's Wharf downtown.

There are also plans to improve the area with new lighting and benches.
