The active search is now suspended for a 39-year-old woman who went overboard from the Prudence Island ferry around 6:30 last night.
The Coast Guard says it searched 40 square miles over almost eleven hours.
Witnesses say the woman was alone on the deck when it appeared she intentionally climbed over the railing and went into the water.
Authorities say it's unlikely she would have survived overnight in the cold water of Narragansett Bay.
Officials are still investigating and could have more to say on the investigation Wednesday.
