Johnston High School students were released at 11 a.m. today due to staffing shortages.
Nearly two-dozen called out this morning and some of the sick calls were reportedly coronavirus-related.
Superintendent Bernard DiLullo says there wasn't enough staff to safely monitor the cafeteria and the halls.
Some parents said that there was no warning that the school system was going to close early and had to scramble to make arrangements.
The superintendent says it's expected the high school will be open tomorrow, but that it's a day-to-day decision based on how many staff are available.
