As Providence Police continue to investigate an overnight Harold Street shooting that claimed the life of a woman- now comes word of a police standoff with a man on Denison Street.
Details in that case are few. Police have confirmed that a 60 year old man locked himself inside of his home early this morning.
The Swat Team was called out and negotiations began.
There have been reports of several shots that rang out about 6:30 this morning. It is unclear how many shots were fired.
Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare is confirming one person is dead.
Officials say that the original call had indicted that the man who is inside of the home had allegedly assaulted a family member.
Police asking residents to avoid the area of Branch Avenue and Commodore Street.
