Governor McKee has written to President Biden telling him that the state “will welcome with open arms” those forced from their homes by the Russian aggression in Ukraine.
McKee says the “despicable acts of war” have left hundreds of thousands homeless.
“The Ukranian refugees should know they can find solace and safety in our state.”
The letter concludes that the state is ready and willing to accept refugees into Rhode Island.
The letter does not suggest a number that the state can handle. But it does say that they will await guidance from The President.
There has been no comment from The White House yet.
