The Beast Of The East Wins First Round Big East Squeaker

The Providence Friars bid for a Big East Men’s Basketball championship is underway and it is still alive. 

The Friars beat Butler for the third time this year. The final 65-61 in the first round of the tournament being played in Madison Square Garden. 

After being tied at 31 to end the first half-the Friars scored 9 of the last 11 points of the game. 

The back and forth game was tied 12 different times and there were 12 lead changes. 

Nate Wilson had 26 points for the winners. 

Jared Bynum had 16. 

Overall the Friars shot 37 percent from the field. 

65 percent from the free throw line. 

Providence College is now 25 and 4 on the season.
