Democrat Brett Smiley officially launched his campaign for mayor of Providence.
He ran for mayor back in 2014. Most recently he was chief of staff for the director of the Department of Administration during when former Governor Raimondo was in office.
Smiley says that Providence already has the best food around along with the arts and universities.
Now he says to be a truly world class center for activity the city needs to pay close attention to quality of life issues.
The current Mayor Jorge Elorza cannot run for re-election because he is term limited.
