Jasiel Correia, Former Fall River Mayor Ordered To Prison

A federal appeals court is ordering former Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia to report to prison tomorrow to begin serving his sentence for corruption.

The First Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday ruled that Correia does not deserve any more delays in reporting to prison.

Correia was sentenced to spend six years in federal prison for fraud, extortion and conspiracy last year.

His reporting date for prison has been delayed six times, but the appeals court says tomorrow's self surrender date remains in effect.

His attorneys had argued that Correia should be kept out of prison until the full extent of his appeals play out.
