State Lawmakers To Consider Gun Control Bills Today

Three gun control bills are going to the Rhode Island House floor on today.

The Judiciary Committee considered legislation on Thursday that would: limit semi-automatic magazines to ten rounds of ammunition, ban the carrying of loaded rifles or shotguns in public (with the exception of hunting) and increase the legal gun-buying age from 18 to 21.

The committee's vote yesterday on the magazine capacity bill was 10-to-8.

A large number of Second Amendment supporters rallied at the State House while the hearing was ongoing.

Governor McKee says that if he gets the current package being considered, he will sign it.
