High Court Ruling Brings Differing Reaction From State

Governor Dan McKee says Rhode Island will continue to support a woman's right to choose. He's reacting to today's U.S. Supreme Court ruling that overturns Roe v. Wade., the decision that legalized abortion nearly 50 years ago.

Senator Jack Reed says a radical faction of the court is taking away a right from every women.

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse calls it a horrifying ruling and one of the most arrogant decisions in the Supreme Court's history.

The head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence however is applauding the ruling. Bishop Thomas Tobin says he's very pleased with the court's decision. However, he says the work on behalf of human life is not over. He explained it's moved into a new arena and assumed a new urgency.

Meantime, the President has met with several Attorneys General from throughout the country to map out a way to protect reproductive rights. There has been no plan announced yet by the White House.
