We are seeing temperatures in the 90’s today and tomorrow and with it more of a concern about how dry it has been.
The latest Drought Monitor Report shows the entire state now in some form of a drought.
For parts of Washington County it is considered a “moderate” drought. But for the rest of the state officials say it is a “severe drought.”
Almost 1 point 1 million people are affected by the drought in Rhode Island.
Firefighters are concerned now as well, as it won’t take much to see a small brush fire spread out of control. They are asking people to be careful around fire pits and while cooking outdoors.
The National Weather Service has listed all of Rhode Island except for Block Island under a Heat Advisory on today and Friday.
The weather service warns hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
The real-feel temperature over the next two days is forecast in the triple-digits.
An official heat wave has a chance to continue in the Providence area into next Monday before we get a cool down.
