Priest Appointment To Narragansett Church Rescinded Over "Questions"

The head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence has rescinded a priest’s appointment to a church in Narragansett.

Bishop Thomas Tobin confirmed that he received a request from Father Eric Silva.

The priest wrote that he realizes that his presence at the new assignment would only “hurt the parish and cause division.”

Bishop Tobin said that although Father Silva will retain the priestly faculties, he will not be re-assigned at the current time.

Father Silva was scheduled for St Thomas More later this month. But he drew backlash after revelations about “inappropriate questions” that were asked to students as they were in the confessional.
