School zone speed cameras are activated as of today in Central Falls, East Providence and Pawtucket.
Speed cameras were turned on Monday in Providence.
They operate on school days from 7 a.m. to late afternoon. Violators get a 50-dollar ticket in the mail.
But that is not the only cameras drivers will have to worry about.
Providence Police say that they have activated 23 of the 25 license plate reading cameras in the city.
Officials say the goal is to deter crime.
But some are wondering about their privacy being violated because of it.
