The Woonsocket City Council has voted unanimously for an outside investigation of Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt.
In an emergency meeting today the city councilors moved to hire outside counsel for Denise Sierra, the council member who brought multiple allegations against the mayor to the state Supreme Court.
Sierra claims that the mayor is falling short in her mandated responsibilities.
The Mayor meantime calls the charges "an election year ploy."
