Driver Cited In Cranston Accident

The driver of a pickup truck which had a wheel pop off unexpectedly and then hit a pedestrian in Cranston is receiving a citation.

The 43-year-old man, who was not identified, told police he had bought the truck from a private dealer earlier in the day on September 27th when the rogue tire incident happened on Dyer Avenue.

A 13-year-old girl was hit in the head and was taken to the ICU at Hasbro Children's Hospital.

Her condition has since improved. The driver was cited for having a vehicle in unsafe condition, as police said loose lug nuts were the apparent cause.

He was also cited for an expired license.
