US Supreme Court Refuses To Consider Rhode Island Reproductive Case

Without comment the U.S. Supreme Court is not taking up an abortion case from Rhode Island about whether fetuses have constitutional rights.

The group called "Catholics for Life" and two women wanted the court to decide whether fetuses had rights under the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The legal challenge was against the Rhode Island Reproductive Privacy Act which was passed in 2019.

The RI Supreme Court said fetuses did not have such rights, and they relied on a precedent from the decades-old Roe v. Wade ruling.

However, that was overturned earlier this year by the SCOTUS.
