We have an eye on the sky for you over the next 36 hours or so- tracking Hurricane Nicole and weighing its impact on Rhode Island.
The storm has made landfall in Florida and has since been downgraded. But that doesn't mean it isn't an issue for us.
The storm pounded the Florida coast as a Category One hurricane early this morning, causing damage and power outages.
The National Hurricane Center says the tropical storm still has strong winds up to 60 miles per hour, and is centered over eastern Florida south of Orlando. Disney World and Universal Orlando are shutting down today as Nicole moves northward toward Georgia and the Carolinas.
Tropical Storm warnings are in effect from Boca Raton to South Carolina.
The National Weather Service says we could be in line for some wind gusts and downpours from the Nicole. Right now it looks like Friday night into Saturday will be the times we have to be most alert.
