Pawtucket Gets New Expansion Soccer Team

The name of the new United Soccer League team to be based in Pawtucket was announced today.

"Rhode Island FC" will play it's home games in a new ten-thousand-seat stadium that's being built along the Seekonk River.

It's expected to open in the spring of 2024.

Plans to bring professional soccer to the city were announced three-years ago when the Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate announced its move to Worcester.
