A Boston Celtics icon has passed away.
Three-time NBA champion and former coach Paul Silas has died.
Silas passed away at the age of 79 on Sunday.
He played 16 seasons in the NBA, winning two titles with the Boston Celtics and one with the Seattle Super Sonics.
He also played for the St. Louis Hawks, Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets during his time in the league.
After his playing days, Silas began a coaching career that spanned four decades.
Most notably, he was hired by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003 to mentor LeBron James as he began his career.
