The Roger Williams Zoo community in Providence is mourning the loss of its beloved moon bear, named Gracie.
The zoo says the 27-year-old female moon bear had to be humanely euthanized because of her age and increasing mobility issues.
Gracie came to the Providence zoo in 1996 along with her brother, George, and was instantly popular with visitors and staffers.
Zoo officials say they are keeping a close eye on her brother to make sure he enjoys a long life.
