Reed Calls On Republicans To "Get Weapons Of War Off City Streets"

President Biden says there's a "moral price to pay" for inaction on guns. While speaking in Durham, North Carolina, the President called Monday’s deadly shooting at a Nashville school "senseless."

Meantime, Senator Jack Reed says it is time for congress to take immediate action on the issue.

“There have already been thirteen school shootings in 2023. Every single one is a tragedy, and the loss of innocent lives is unfathomable. I am heartbroken for the parents of little ones whose lives were cut short by gun violence and devastated that another community has been shattered by the pain and trauma of a school-shooting.

“Republicans need to step up and help keep weapons of war off our streets. There are commonsense steps we can take to reduce the prevalence of mass-shootings.

“I urge Congressional Republicans to work with Democrats on a bipartisan basis to help put an end to gun violence in our schools and on our streets. No parent should have to endure the pain of losing a child like this. We as a society can and must do better.”

The comments come after three children and three adults where shot an killed at a private Christian elementary school in Nashville this week.
