A controversial proposal to build contractor storage units along the Pawtuxet River in Warwick has been withdrawn.
A group of Pawtuxet Village residents, including singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton and her husband, were fighting the development plan at 175 Post Road over contamination concerns.
They also objected to the owners cutting off access to a river trail which runs across the property.
Meantime, the Providence Journal reports the project was dropped due to various circumstances and factors, according to a letter sent to the Warwick Planning Board.
