Guilty Plea Costs Greek Company Millions

A tanker ship that was anchored in Narragansett Bay last year drew questions about its support for the Russian war in Ukraine.

Now, the company that owns the tanker is pleading guilty in federal court.

According to the Justice Department, Zeus Lines Management based in Greece pleaded guilty to environmental crimes carried out by its captain and chief engineer.

The vessel, named the Galissas, bore a large letter "Z" which people speculated was the official support of the Russian occupation, but it was actually the Zeus logo.

The company has agreed to pay a fine of over two-million dollars.
