Republican Ray McKay is launching a campaign for the U.S. Senate seat held by Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse in 2024.
McKay previously tried to run for Senate while working for the city of Warwick.
He fought a legal battle against an ordinance that bars classified workers from running for office, but he was unsuccessful.
Among his platforms are to protect just and constitutional laws; secure the border; grow the economy and stop government deficit spending.
Whitehouse has been a Rhode Island senator since 2007.
