The structure in Newport where several teenagers were seriously injured on Monday is facing demolition.
One of the boys climbed to the roof of the former stable at Fort Brenton State Park known as "The Bells" and the structure collapsed.
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management says trespassers have scaled the fencing around the dilapidated property which dates back to the 19th century.
Officials say because "The Bells" is historically significant, it needs to go through the preservation process.
