The search for the missing Titanic submersible in the Atlantic Ocean is coming to a tragic conclusion.
A United States Navy official says acoustic data that was picked up on Sunday was likely the implosion of the submersible nicknamed "Titan".
The U.S. Coast Guard led a search for the sub this week, about nine-hundred miles east of Cape Cod.
The Coast Guard confirmed on Thursday the Titan was found demolished on the ocean floor, and that its five passengers are dead.
One of the victims is Stockton Rush, the founder of the company that owned Titan, OceanGate based out of Everett, Washington.
The others who were aboard were British billionaire Hamish Harding, Pakistani energy and tech mogul Shanzada Dawood and his son Sulaiman, and famed French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet.
Officials of the Coast Guard say that it appears that the victims never knew what happened to them.
Left unanswered is the exact cause of the iimplosion and who will pay for the recovery.
