New Law Requires In State Inspection Of Vehicles

A new law will establish that Rhode Islanders must get their cars inspected in their home state.

Governor McKee signed the legislation sponsored by state Representative John Edwards and Senator Louis DiPalma.

They say this is in response to a lack of cooperation from Massachusetts and Connecticut when it comes to drivers from those states.

DiPalma says it's caused an impact to small businesses in border towns like Tiverton.

The legislation takes effect on January 1st.
