Matos Remains On Ballot For Congress- So Does Signature Controversy

The Rhode Island Board of Elections has confirmed the placement of Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos on the ballot for a special congressional election.

A scandal broke last week when forged petition signatures were discovered in East Providence, Newport and Jamestown.

Matos, who is running to replace David Cicilline in the 1st House District, said on Friday she is the victim of someone she trusted.

Campaign worker Holly McClaren was linked to some of the fraudulent signatures and has since been fired.

The incident is under investigation by the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office and state police.
