AG: Five Indicted For Theft Of Dead Man's Estate

The Rhode Island Attorney General's Office says a grand jury is indicting five people, including a judge, in a theft case.

The defendants are accused of stealing property from the estate of a Cranston man named James Barbieri who died in 2021.

The estate included collections of sports cards with an estimated value of over one-million dollars.

The indicted judge is Priscilla DiMaio, who serves on the probate court in Johnston.

DiMaio is due for an arraignment on Wednesday on counts of attempting to obtain money under false pretenses and providing a false document to a public official.
