A police officer from Hartford, Connecticut is facing a sexual assault charge on Block Island.
Justin Damone was arrested for an alleged incident at Ballard's Beach Resort this past weekend.
Hartford Police Chief Jason Thody says that Damon, is a four-year veteran of the Hartford Police Department, has been suspended without pay while criminal and internal investigations are carried out.
Rhode Island State Police are leading the state investigation. They have not released much in the way of information. It is unclear if the officer has been arraigned.
What they have confirmed is that the officer was off-duty at the time of the alleged incident.
