Dems Debate Vying For Seat In Congress

Ten of the 12 Democrats running for the Rhode Island First Congressional District participated in a debate on Thursday night at Roger Williams University in Bristol.

Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos said she takes responsibility for this summer's campaign signature scandal that was allegedly perpetrated by rogue campaign workers.

However, Matos noted that she had enough signatures to qualify for the ballot.

Former Rhode Island state representative Aaron Regunberg defended himself against criticism over a super-PAC donation that was funded by family members. Regunberg said he asked for support from everyone he knew early-on in his campaign, without knowing what kind of form that might take, and added that he denounced the system of outside spending.
