CVS Health notified the state Department of Labor and Training that it is laying off 500 employees at its corporate headquarters in Woonsocket and Cumberland.
The job cuts include 198 Rhode Island residents.
Earlier this month CVS announced it planned to cut five-thousand positions from its 300-thousand employees nationwide.
According to published reports all the layoffs will be effective by late October.
