Magaziner Warns Of Issues In State If Fed Shuts Down

Congressman Seth Magaziner warns that a federal government shutdown will have a devastating impact on Rhode Island.

He said there could be significant delays in Social Security payments, those dependent on food assistance would be at risk and federal workplace, environmental and food safety inspections would stop.

Magaziner says he's asking House Republicans to work with Democrats to prevent a shutdown.

House negotiators are continue to work- although it is unclear when the two sides will meet.

The deadline to get a deal down is Saturday night at midnight.
