Rhode Island General Treasurer James Diossa said today the state is reviewing its relationship with Washington Trust.
The U.S. Attorney's Office announced that the bank had reached a nine-million-dollar settlement with the Department of Justice regarding alleged loan discrimination in majority Black and Hispanic neighborhoods.
Diossa said the state currently has 190-million-dollars in Washington Trust.
The bank denied any wrongdoing and said it agreed to the settlement to avoid the expense of potential litigation.
