Rhode Island State Fire Marshal Tim McLaughlin answered questions from the press on Tuesday about the Harborside Inn fire on Block Island back in August.
It's been reported that the hotel's kitchen fire suppression system did not activate, but McLaughlin said yesterday it's unclear if that would have changed the outcome.
An independent inspector tagged the system as compliant even though it contained several faulty parts.
His license to carry out inspections in Rhode Island has been revoked.
Meantime, The State Attorney General is investigating as to whether criminal charges are warranted.
