Lifespan is asking the public to sign a pledge to keep health care workers safe.
The campaign, hashtag #ScottStrong, is named for Scott Amaral, a nurse who was attacked by a patient in the psychiatric department at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence in September.
Lifespan says Amaral is recovering from critical injuries he suffered, and has been discharged from hospital treatment.
The patient, George Bower, was arrested for felony assault.
